Year 1 - Mrs Kavanagh and Mrs White 2025 - 2026

Welcome to our Year 1 class page. This year, your children will have two teachers supporting them on their learning journey. Mrs Kavanagh will work with the children Monday - Wednesday and Mrs White will work with the children on Thursdays and Fridays. Your children will also have the support of Mrs Caiger, one of our teaching assistants. 

The transition into Year 1 can be a tricky one for many children as the move to a slightly more formal routine and environment can be difficult. We are very aware of this so will adapt the routines and classroom environment as the year progresses. 

We will continue to build skills of independence throughout Year 1 and gradually expect the children to become more adept at doing things for themselves. There will be a big focus on developing good reading skills and becoming ready to pass the Year 1 Phonic Check. It is really important that you support your children to practice their phonic skills at home regularly and read as often as possible with an adult.
